The chairman of Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto Dr. Ming-Tat Cheung said: “Imperial Ball 2009 is our 15th year in fundraising efforts for the Centre to continue its mission in promoting Chinese culture; the gala also reflects on the long standing commitment and contribution by CCC to bridge the Chinese community and the Canadian society. Our target for this year’s fundraising effort is $300,000 and the proceeds will focus on improving facilities at the Chinese Cultural Centre in meeting the diverse needs of all Canadian community groups in particular, the youth.

Imperial Ball 2009 Honorary Co-chair Alan Lam said : "The theme for this year's Gala is “Youth in Motion”. Now that the Phase II building has been completed, CCC will focus on motivating youth in developing and expanding their interest on arts, sports, and encouraging youths to be more involved in the community. We are confident to achieve our goal in 2009 through a variety of activities at CCC such as forming a Youth Orchestra, and organizing the Food Drive project.

We are happy to have nominated two CCC Youth Ambassadors, Lu Wang and Langning Liu, two accomplished pianists from Juilliard School of Music who will help to promote CCC through their art. "
