Imperial Ball 2014 – Music Magic at Fairmont Royal York on May 31
Toronto, May 1, 2014 – Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCC) will be hosting the Imperial Ball 2014 on Saturday，May 31 at the Fairmont Royal York (100 Front Street West, Toronto) to raise funds to build a Chinese Heritage Hall. Music Magic is the theme of this year’s gala. This is to kick start the Toronto International Piano Competition 2014 to be held in late October to early November this year.
Dr. Ming-Tat Cheung, Chairman and President of CCC, remarked “We are committed to be the Home for the West to meet the East and the Past to meet the Future. It is important to let young people continue our mission. Gala proceeds of this year will continue to be for building a Heritage Hall to showcase the more than a hundred years of history of Chinese Canadians in Ontario, to create a focal point for educational and cultural programs, as well as to share the rich Chinese heritage with our younger generations and multicultural community. To start with this huge project, we are glad to that few community organizations and corporations have pledged to sponsor us, and some more groups are in the pipeline.”
Over 30 reputable organizations and business corporations have pledged their support this year. Rolex Boutique at Royal de Versailles is once again the Presenting Sponsor of the Imperial Ball. Royal de Versailles will donate a unique pearl and diamond brooch valued about $13,000 for live auction. DFC Auto Group and RBC Royal Bank continue to be the Honorary Patrons (list of other major sponsors appended). Silent auction items include a round-trip air ticket to China or Hong Kong, coupons of various cuisines, fine wines, golf club memberships, tickets to entertainment facilities and cultural exhibition, brand name gift certificates, and many more.
Co-Chairing the 20th annual fundraising gala are Philip Leong, Vice-President and Director of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. as well as Canada’s representative to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council, and Judy Lee, Vice President, Commercial Financial Services of RBC Royal Bank.
One of the highlights of the Music Magic is the feature performance by Yafei Xin who has grown up in a magician family in China and is the chief magician and producer of a magic art group. He has won numerous national and international awards. Besides, Juilliard duo Langning Liu and Michael Berkovsky, both artistic directors of CCC Music Festival and Toronto International Piano Competition 2014, will also perform in the gala.
The fundraising gala is expected to draw more than five hundred patrons comprising senior business executives, professionals, community leaders and representatives from all levels of government. Gala tickets are $400 (regular) and $480 (VIP) each while the cost for a corporate table is $4,800.
